BR&B Announces Supplemental Distribution of Funds Recovered from Fraudulent Filer in Quaker Oats Case

6/18/2014 - BR&B announces that the Honorable Rebecca J. Pallmeyer, of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, has signed an order permitting a supplemental distribution to claimants of recently-recovered funds in a 1998 class action on behalf of investors in the common  stock of The Quaker Oats Company that settled in 2001 for $9.9 million.  Prior distributions were made in 2003 and 2006.  The current distribution is being made as a result of the successful prosecution of Alvin J. Bosgang by the U.S. Department of Justice.  Bosgang was convicted on charges that he had filed fraudulent claims in a number of class action settlements, including the Quaker Oats settlement.  The claims administrator for this action determined that over $150,000 is traceable to a fraudulent claim Bosgang filed in that case.  This restitution, less anticipated administrative fees and costs, will be distributed to eligible claimants who negotiated their initial distribution checks and who will receive a distribution of at least $10.  Click here for a copy of the June 18, 2014, order.
